- 1 cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup pure maple syrup
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp baking soda

- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1½ cups powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1–2 tbsp milk (as needed)

- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add maple syrup, egg, and vanilla. Mix in dry ingredients to form a soft dough.
- Scoop dough onto a lined baking sheet. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes. Let cool before icing.
- Melt butter in a saucepan until golden brown and nutty. Let cool slightly, then whisk with powdered sugar and maple syrup. Adjust texture with milk.
