This Cinnamon Swirl Banana Bread is a moist, flavorful, and cozy spiced loaf filled with ripe bananas and a rich cinnamon sugar swirl. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a comforting snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup plain Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • ½ cup brown sugar (for swirl)
  • 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon (for swirl)
  • 1 tbsp melted butter (for swirl)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy. Add eggs, mashed bananas, vanilla extract, and Greek yogurt (or sour cream). Mix until well combined.
  4. In a small bowl, prepare the cinnamon swirl by mixing brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter.
  5. Pour half of the banana batter into the loaf pan. Spoon half the cinnamon swirl mixture on top and gently swirl with a knife. Repeat with remaining batter and swirl mixture.
  6. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
  • Greek yogurt adds extra moisture and richness; sour cream can also be used.
  • Let the bread cool completely before slicing to prevent it from crumbling.
  • This banana bread stores well in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature.
