  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (melted)
  • Optional: extra chocolate chips for topping

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mash bananas and mix with melted butter, sugars, egg, and vanilla.
  2. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Fold into wet mixture, then stir in sour cream.
  3. Melt chocolate chips and gently swirl into the banana batter, leaving visible chocolate streaks.
  4. Spoon batter into lined muffin tins 3/4 full. Add extra chocolate chips on top if desired. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 18–22 minutes until golden and springy.
  5. Let cool 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use ripe bananas for best flavor.
  • Greek yogurt can substitute sour cream.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
