These Cheesecake Apple Hand Pies are a delightful combination of creamy cheesecake and spiced apple filling all wrapped in golden, flaky puff pastry. Perfect for fall, they’re easy to make and irresistibly delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 6 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 3 tbsp powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the diced apples with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice until the apples are tender. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a bowl, combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into 6 equal rectangles.
  5. Spoon a portion of the cheesecake mixture onto half of each pastry rectangle. Top with the apple filling.
  6. Fold the pastry over to cover the filling and seal the edges with a fork. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden and puffed.
  9. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Use Granny Smith apples for a tart contrast or Honeycrisp for a sweeter bite.
  • Let the filling cool before assembling to prevent soggy pastry.
  • You can make the apple and cheesecake filling ahead of time and refrigerate for quick assembly later.
