A hearty and cheesy ground beef casserole with a creamy cheese sauce, baked to perfection.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire in a bowl. Form into thick oval patties.
  2. Brown patties in a skillet for 3–4 minutes per side.
  3. Melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour, then slowly whisk in milk. Stir in cheddar cheese until smooth.
  4. Pour cheese sauce into a greased baking dish, place patties on top, and sprinkle with mozzarella.
  5. Bake at 375°F for 20 minutes. Garnish with parsley and serve.

Notes

  • Serve with mashed potatoes or buttered noodles.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste.
